“Me ranting about the problems of designing on Wordpress”

wplogoOk so maybe im not the best blogger in the world…

But this website is my own way of  give people a peak into the person behind the moniker Therseus, who i am and what i do. Im now trying to figure out wich way to go as i try to redesign this website into something more visually appealing. Wordpress has improved greatly since the first time i tried it. I love the new backend and how it all becomes effortless with seemless plugin installations and automatic updates. The post area has also been improved with the collapsible menus and it greatly increases the efficiency of wordpress too.

Im still contemplating a new design and some fresh colors for new site but i also want a new layout to be something unique for just for me and this website. I am scouring all wordpress sources for ideas. I’ll keep you posted!

This year it is good to be a Coen Brothers fan. First there was the excellent No Country for Old men wich turned the Coens into looking like gold merchants at the Oscars. That was a very serious crime tale.

Their new one is of a different sort and is in theatres now, and its called Burn After Reading. Anyone who remembers the noir impending-doom humor of Oh Brother, where art thou ? or Fargo, will love this one. Its a crazy tale  of a forced-to-retire CIA man, his stuck-up wife and her secret lover, a treasury agent and a missing floppy disc, that falls into the hands of some  Hardbodies employees,  who then decide to try their luck as blackmailers (need i i say they fail miserably?)  From there its a fast downwards spiral for all implicated. The casting is awesome, the jokes are funny and its one of those crazy stories we have seen before from two of todays best movie makers, brothers Joel and Ethan Coen.

Cast:

Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, George Clooney and in a obscure and small but funny role, the king of funny supporting roles, Mr. J.K. Simmons

Smears vs. facts

I have been following the US election. I support Obama. I oppose smears. If you are a political candidate and you decide to base your policy on fear, hate, smears and lies… ultimately…. you stand to lose.

Here is the video of MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann answer to the McCain campaign and the Republicans attack on Colin Powells endorsement for Barack Obama.

The truth is Powell put words to what i think alot of liberal republicans are thinking. Palin is more Bush then Bush, and the falthering politics that has crippled the economy needs to go. The “real” maverick however is only a shade of his former self, having relied heavily on Rovian tactics. Also the lack of focus for the McCain campaign can be seen as one of its many major flaws, and im sure the GOP’s now have their reservations. Then Pat Buchanan claims Powell is endorsing Obama because of race… ? Powell laid out all the facts of both campaigns, and made a decision based on this. I guess Pat is just a sore loser.

So in the end i see Obama winning this election, not because he wants it more, but because like Hillary, McCain wants it too much, and he will do anything to get there, and that is where he fails. Obama has said this election is not about him, its about the american people. Do you then really think calling someone the n-word, muslim, communist, faggot, socialist and a host of other names helps you in any way ?

This election is about the important issues facing America, and not smears. The majority of americans understands that. But it seems noone told McCain/Palin and their ignorant radical voters this. Good luck voting.

Children! Beware of teh Linus…Direction and shortened season is something else to discuss. Im not happy of the shortcuts and quick fixes they keep adding.

I feel weary as my life’s been tossed over and things needs to be put in in order again. Im moving… that explains the tossing… and many boxes of kitchenware explains the rest… Ok, so im not posting as much as i want to.

But dont worry. I am in the process of moving myself into the new pad, and therefore i havent been much in front of computer. My ISP then screwed me on the DSL adress transfer by saying no technician was availible until 14th of May to new adress so they wont have it set up until then. This means i wont be online as i wish i could.

See you all in about 2 weeks

Really ? I guess there is for two movie making brothers from Minnesota.
4 Oscars… Talk about a loot! Way to go Coens!!

Finally my favourite film makers, Joel and Ethan Coen gets the honor they truly deserve. It was very pleasing to see that 4 Oscars was awarded to the unforgettable and future classic No Country For Old Men !!!

The movie won:

Best directing (Ethan & Joel Coen)
Best movie of the year (Scott Rudin, Ethan & Joel Coen)
Best supporting actor (Javier Bardem)
Best screenplay adaptation (Joel & Ethan Coen)

The cast, the story…the filming… this movie has it all. The movie sets a mood that grabs you and pins you to the chair from the moment the first words are uttered by Tommy Lee Jones, right up to the end fade out. In true Coen Brothers style the scenery, art direction and camera angles is all beautiful orchestrated… the dialogue effortless, and the overall feel of movie is in sync with the filmmakers true intentions.

Anton Chigur (played to perfection by Javier Bardem) is possibly the most calculated, sinister and lethal sociopath ever portrayed on film.

NoCountry

Tommy Lee Jones as the soon-to-retire law man Ed Tom Bell, feels like a cool calming breeze blowing over your face, compared to Bardems compulsive and meticulous Chigur.

Cormac McCarthy’s book, (from wich the movie borrows its title) i havent read, but im sure this movie will, like the novel, stand, as an equal to the test of time. I dont think it’s too brash to declare both as modern classics. It’s is also a great day to be a Coen brothers fan.
